Charity Begins At Home is showing great support for our "Help Cherie Walk" campaign. I am trying to raise money to get my 5-year old daughter Cherie for a life-changing operation to Missouri, USA. Charity begins at home has been collecting funds on our behalf, and also giving us much needed advice for organizing our events and fund raisers. Through Charity begins at home, I have also met other families in same situation, which has been very beneficial. I am very grateful for Charity begins at home's assistance. I am confident that with their continuous help I can make the target of 60 000 euros needed to fund the operation.
Hi, My name is Cherie Anderson, I am 5 years old. My only dream is to be able to walk. I’d like to thank you for taking the time to look at my website. I have a condition called Cerebral Palsy, Spastic Diplegia which means my legs are very stiff, they ache a lot and I need to wear splints every day. I use my walker and wheelchair as my balance is not very good and my legs get tired sometimes. My family and friends are trying to raise enough money to get me to USA for an operation to help me walk and live an independent life. The surgery will also reduce me getting deformity problems in my body as I grow. The operation is called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy or SDR, and is performed by Dr. T.S Park at the St. Louis Children Hospital in Missouri. This operation is not available in Europe yet (except in UK where they have started it at the end of 2011 and a first few children have been now operated).
My website has been setup to help raise awareness and hopefully generate enough support and donations to help me get to America, to have a life changing procedure which will make my legs work better. Our target amount is €60,000. This will cover the SDR operation, orthopaedic surgery for my hamstrings, stay at the hospital, 4 weeks post-op physiotherapy at the St. Louis hospital, and two months intensive physiotherapy after returning home from USA. Please have a look around the site, to find out further information about my condition and the operation, and the many ways you can help support my cause. Love, Cherie. Hi! My name is Jacob. I was born in Dublin, Ireland on the 12th of November 2008, weighing 8 lb 12 oz. I am a bright, funny & very clever little boy. I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (spastic diplegia) after an MRI scan, at 18 months old. I attend Enable Ireland Tallaght and currently walk with the aid of a Kaye frame.
There is an operation in St. Louis Children's Hospital in Missouri that costs 50,000 euro that will enable me to walk properly. I'm looking for all the help I can get in fundraising for this. Please donate to my cause. Thank you for your help!
"Charity Begins At Home have been a great asset in our quest to raise
funds to sent our three year old grandson Jacob to Missouri USA for an
SDR operation, They have not only collected much needed funds on
Jacobs behalf, but have also given us excellent advise when
organising our own events and fund raisers. Charity Begins At Home
have also helped us reach out to areas and venues where without their
help we could not have accessed. We are very grateful for all their
assistance for without Charity Begins At Home it would have taken more
time to reach our goal of Jacob travelling to the USA for his life
changing operation, for this we will be forever grateful."

We are delighted to report that Niamh has had her life changing operation and is making a good recovery. Everyone here at Charity Begins At Home wish her and her family the best of luck for the future!
We are delighted to report that Adam has recently had his operation in America. We wish him and his family our best wishes and a speedy recovery.
Adam is now undergoing extensive physiotherapy at his home with specialists from Enable Ireland and can now walk flat footed with the aid of his walking frame.
Experts in Missouri have predicted Adam will move to a tripod early in the new year and could be walking unaided for the first time within six months. Mother Joanne said "Adam has got his wish and I see no reason why he can't go on get his next one and that is to play for his beloved Bray Wanderers."
