Soccer mad Adam Curran from Bray will get a pair of football boots from Santa thanks to a life changing operation in the United States which has helped him walk for the first time. Adam was dignosed with Cerebral Palsy three years ago, The condition affected both his legs and one arm which prevented him from standing upright.
Parents Joanne Murphy and Patrick Curran have managed to raise the 64,000 euro through tireless fundraising for a spinal operation at St.Louis hospital in Missouri last month. Adam is now undergoing extensive physiotherapy at his home with specialists from Enable Ireland and can now walk flat footed with the aid of his walking frame.
Experts in Missouri have predicted Adam will move to a tripod early in the new year and could be walking unaided for the first time within six months. Mother Joanne said "Adam has got his wish and I see no reason why he can't go on get his next one and that is to play for his beloved Bray Wanderers."
We are delighted to report that Adam has recently had his operation in America. We wish him and his family our best wishes and a speedy recovery
